Who We Are & Who We Currently Serve

Ardie’s Story: The Heart Behind Our Mission

The Ardie Fay Foundation was established as a tribute to Ardie Fay — a woman whose life embodied compassion, resilience, and grace.

Born in Lonaconing, Maryland, a coal mining town where neighbors helped neighbors, Ardie’s roots were grounded in community. She was her high school Mayflower Queen, worked at the local silk mill, and married her sweetheart before moving across the country as a devoted Air Force wife and mother. She raised four children, and her legacy continues through 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

In her early 80s, Ardie was diagnosed with dementia. As the disease progressed, she found care and connection through a local senior daycare program, which gave her purpose, routine, and community. She thrived with music therapy, dancing, bingo, crafts, and social engagement.

But when the pandemic forced that center to close, the change was immediate and heartbreaking. The loss of her senior program deeply impacted her quality of life — and revealed how critical such services are for all aging adults and their families.

Sadly, many seniors today don’t have access to programs like the one that helped Ardie. That’s why the Ardie Fay Foundation exists: to change that reality. We are committed to honoring her legacy by helping every senior live with dignity, independence, and care, no matter their needs.
